After crossing over from the gospel industry to the secular world, celebrated singer Bahati has widened his trap on the political strings.
The talented singer on Sunday joined Deputy President William Ruto’s trail as he fellowshipped with believers in Nairobi’s Huruma estate.
While he was handed the opportunity to address congregants, Bahati expressed his admiration of the number two while exuding confidence that he would occupy the house on the hill.
“When I heard the Deputy President was here, I came to accompany him and show him around. You give us so much hope, there are so many hustlers in Mathare . When I see someone like you, who rose from selling chicken and now is a Deputy President and we are waiting to swear him as President in 2022, it gives us hope,”
The singer further disclosed his connection with Mathare estate; “I was born here, in Mathare, I have studied in these schools, Huruma Primary. And for the milestones I have made, I thank the people of Mathare for holding my hand. I was orphaned while still young and I used to eat in everyone’s house. I know am indebted to many of you,”
According to Emabakasi Central MP Benjamin Gathiru who was also part of the entourage of the UDA team, Bahati had previously revealed his intentions to join politics.
“Bahati has let me down because he told me there is something he will say but he hasn’t said. When the time comes he will say it,”
The musician has previously been seen in the company of the UDA stalwarts campaigning for their candidate in Kiambaa by-elections.
